A prior caveat:
Before I can start this review I have to be candid. The Aladino Connecticut was the first cigar I ever smoked. I absolutely adore this cigar, and I have smoked more Aladino CT in their Robusto size than I would care to count. That being said, I will try to be as objective as possible with this review.
Real time review:
Right off of the bat the Aladino Connecticut has a noticeably light wrapper. The wrapper is a light tan color with tight veins. In my experience this cigar is firm with a nice spring in its give. The unlit foot smells sweetly of vanilla, vegetal earth, toast and a hint of hay. This cigar is very easy to toast and light and holds heat very well. The initial full draw is light and noticeably nutty. The flavor profile is relatively even, with only a small evolution in the flavor. It begins with a note of toasted almonds and a creamy sweetness. At the initial draw the flavor is light and equal parts sweet and bitter, as the smoke remains on the palate the sweet and bitter balance of the toasted nuts breaks slightly to make room for a subtle peppercorn bite followed by a wood note that will last into the aftertaste. This cigar is very mild in body and its smoke is equally light and airy. The ash stack holds well and keeps the ember insulated making the cigar minimal in management. The retrohale is pleasant and opens up the palate to a deeper wood and toast note, the primary toasted almond note in the draw, although there, takes a back seat and blends into the aftertaste along with a subtle and biteless peppercorn.
Closing thoughts:
The Aladino Connecticut has a consistent flavor profile and does not typically stray or evolve regardless of the size and ring gauge. This smoke is great for the individual who is new to cigars and wants to learn how to properly analyze the properties of a cigar. I find that the consistency of the flavor allows beginners to practice the fundamentals of tasting required to draw the uniqueness of a cigar into one's mind, without having to worry about how the cigar might change into the next or final third. I have never once gotten a dud Aladino Connecticut, and considering the amount of times I have smoked this cigar in its Robusto and Churchill sizes, I believe that speaks to the quality and consistency of this product. This cigar is a very nice even smoke and great when one does not want to think too deeply about what they are smoking. The Aladino Connecticut is a great cigar with an even flavor profile and has enough substance to continually be enjoyable throughout its entirety.
95/100.
